Angela Latona's complex relationship with math and science began in middle school when she decided she hated both subjects. Determined to be a writer, she shelved her childhood dreams of working as an astronaut and concentrated on poetry contests and grammar. However, by the time she attended Boston University, she found herself immersed in an Astronomy degree and tutoring math on the side.
Now, as a middle school mathematics and physics teacher, she fills each day with as much STEM as possible. Helping students who may not feel successful in these subjects, Angela relates to students by sharing her personal story and encouraging continued effort to understand challenging material.
Angela attended her first educator workshop at NASA in 2015 and plans to continue enriching her life through conferences, outreach events, and programs as she grows in her understanding and appreciation for the sciences. In 2016, she participated in FINESSE deployment at Craters of the Moon in Idaho as an educator in the field.
