Science has always been Jayda Pugliese’s true passion which led to an esteemed career as an elementary STEAM teacher in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As an educator, she would approach Science through hands-on experiences and service learning projects constantly promoting, “Science should be used for the good of mankind.” This allowed Jayda to positively influence the lives of many children through her innovative educational practices. Jayda received multiple recognitions for her contributions to STEAM education. In 2016, she received the Milken Educator Award and was a national finalist for the 2016 Escalante-Gradillas Prize for Best in Education. In 2018, she received the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) Sylvia Shugrue Award for Elementary School Teachers and she is a 2019 Pennsylvania State Teacher of the Year Finalist. Currently, Jayda is serving as an elementary school principal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia while continuing to provide trainings and professio nal developments to local, national and international organizations.
