Sara Toms-Bergquist was born in raised in east Mesa, Arizona, where she grew up with a love all things science, specifically Earth and Space Science. She knew what she wanted to do from an early age but needed a way to help get there! Sara joined the USAF in 2002 where she was an Air Surveillance Instructor aboard the E-3 AWACS. She remained in the position for 6 years and then transferred over to the Reserves. When she left active duty, she immediately went into college. She attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio and Graduated in 2011 with a degree in Earth and Environmental Science; this started her career as a Park Ranger!
Her first Park Ranger position was with the Army Corp of Engineers at Caesar Creek Lake in Waynesville, Ohio. She was an Interpretive Ranger where she taught Geology, Paleontology, and Wildlife Biology! She has had the pleasure of also being a Ranger for the State of South Carolina and now currently holds her dream position at Red Rock State Park in Arizona! She is the Earth and Environmental Education Ranger for the State of Arizona and has the pleasure of teaching all ages about science every day!
She is currently finishing up her Masters in Space and Planetary Science which she is "over the moon" about! She is married with two children and is an avid runner! She is also a First Sergeant in the USAF Reserve, so needless to say she is very busy. She is so rich in having the opportunity to expand her love of science to people that she wakes up smiling every day!
